10 Habits That I Do Every Single Day

(sadly this cute sweater is sold out everywhere! look for less here)

January has been a month filled with circumstances outside of my/our control. Instead of feeling like the new year was going to be full steam ahead into new habits, new opportunities and new beginnings – I’ve personally felt very stuck, creatively depleted and just generally lacking motivation. When I feel out of control, I tend to cling to stupid shit that doesn’t deserve my energy. I made this big proclamation to Dave about how I needed to have some better habits that would allow our family to operate more smoothly, my business to grow, the stress to subside and so on and so forth. Spoiler alert: I tend to always do this and then just set myself up for failure. When I feel out of control I don’t let myself see all the things I do on a daily basis that support our lives.

Luckily, Dave knows how to take my mind off of the control and helps me to realize the bigger picture. Reminding me that I do in fact have good habits that already help our family run smoothly, that support my business and allow me to pour into myself so I can show up better. Sometimes making a list of habits helps to see that I am not as out of control as I think I am. So here are 10 habits that I do every day that mean something to me.

  1. As soon as I wake up I scrape my tongue and take my Seed probiotic.
  2. I make our bed.
  3. When I press power on our coffee maker I then walk to our laundry room to start a load of laundry while my coffee is brewing.
  4. I make a 30oz cup of water with lemon in it.
  5. Once the kids are off to school I reset everyone’s bedrooms so they are cozy and inviting for when it is time to go to bed that night.
  6. I do some sort of workout or activity whether that is a workout class, an 8 minute ab workout at home, a walk or some quick squats/lunges with hand weights.
  7. I take a shower and shave my legs. Every single day. I can’t get dressed until I’m showered.
  8. I get dressed in at least jeans or dressier. I never have a productive day in sweat pants/workout clothes.
  9. I batch out my days between work and personal. I always need to accomplish things in both columns of my life. My days usually go something like this: personal 6-10am, work 10-4pm, personal 4-8:30pm, work 8:30-9:30pm.
  10. I floss, brush my teeth and put my retainers in before bed.

A reminder that the little wins can really shift your mindset. These habits help my day feel productive personally which ultimately sets me up for success professionally. So even on the dark days of January when I get down on myself for not showing up, I can remind myself that these habits matter to my bigger picture.
