I’m finally sharing photos of Charlie’s bedroom after sharing this plan for his room remodel over a year ago. We followed through with everything we said we were going to do and I’m so happy with how it turned out. Charlie loves to fish, loves being outside, loves sports and is a collector of things. He is going to be my child that holds sentimental value to items that often go unnoticed. I wanted his room to feel a little quirky, a little fun, classic and slightly coastal. His room sometimes doubles as a guest room so I wanted it to read boyish while also slightly mature. The room turned out so bright and happy! My favorite photos are at the end where you really get to see Charlie’s little personality in every corner of his room.
I get really intimidated with home decor. Social media has made us believe that each room has to be perfectly styled to be deemed worthy of the internets. I look at these photos and I see electrical outlets that still need to be painted the color of the trim and sides of doors that need to be painted, too. The dressers could have been styled or I should have made up the bed. I criticize myself over a room that I really just love so much. I am not an interior designer and I don’t know how to have a room be anything but lived in. You shouldn’t let an image of perfection prevent you from sharing the things that make you happy. I am beyond happy with how this room turned out and every detail that feels so perfectly my Charlie.
