Donuts are basically a food group in our family. I’m pretty sure I introduced Charlie to his future love of donuts when he was in my belly because they were my breakfast of choice every morning while I was pregnant. Food is our love language around here and it is something that makes me happy. Especially when it means I get to be in the kitchen with my boys.

Our kitchen is small but feels so special to me. We had a small kitchen in the house I grew up in and my siblings and I loved creating recipes with my mom, baking around the holidays and sitting around the table while she cooked. It’s a memory and feeling that I want to instill in my own children! Charlie loves being in the kitchen with me and now that the holidays are in full swing I’ve been coming up with so many yummy recipes to bake together! Since donuts are a fan favorite around here it only seemed appropriate to tackle our own recipe.

We decided on this Baked Apple Cider Donut recipe from Pampered Chef. They have everything you need to feel like a pro in the kitchen! Trust me, you don’t know what you’re missing until you scroll through their website and want absolutely everything. Pampered Chef was generous enough to send some goodies to make all of our donut dreams come true and each piece is essential for a family who loves to bake! We received the donut pan, stainless steel mixing bowls, stackable cooling racks (these are amazing!!), decorating bag set (seriously, just call me Julia Childs with these things), powdered sugar shaker and the sweet treats box set which we are saving for when we make a batch for our neighbors. Not only are Pampered Chef’s products beautiful but they are so well designed. We feel so lucky to have Pampered Chef as a part of our kitchen and home!

Ok now to the recipe. I loved this because there isn’t a ton of sugar in these donuts! Think of them as a healthy version of your favorite indulgence with incredible flavor. Here’s what you’ll need…

Baked Apple Cider Donut Recipe

Ingredients:

Donuts

Oil for brushing

1¼ cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup granulated sugar

2 tsp apple pie spice

½ tsp baking soda

¼ tsp salt

½ cup apple sauce

½ cup frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed

1   egg

2 tbsp canola oil

Spiced Sugar

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 tsp apple pie spice

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Brush the Donut Pan with oil.

For the donuts, combine the flour, sugar, spice, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and whisk until just combined.

Place the Large Round Tip on the large Decorating Bag. Fill the bag with dough and pipe around each well until it’s about ¾ full. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly pressed. Remove from the oven to a Stackable Cooling Rack. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before releasing.

Meanwhile, combine the sugar and spice in small resealable bag. Add several warm donuts to the bag and toss to coat. Repeat with the remaining donuts.

You’ll notice in the photos that there are only 5 donuts left at the end because Dave, Charlie and I consumed 7 in 2 minutes. They were so good! Pampered Chef has a bunch of delicious recipes on their website that you’ll definitely need to check out. If you’re hoping to up your baking game you’ll definitely need a donut pan, some of their stackable cooling racks and decorating bags. I honestly didn’t know how badly I needed these items and now I want to get really fancy in the kitchen and bake all of the things.

My hope is that some of Charlie’s first memories are cooking in the kitchen with his mom. We can sometimes get caught up in the madness of the holidays and think it’s so important to find time for these little moments that truly remind you of the true meaning of the holidays.

A huge thank you to Pampered Chef for partnering on this post!
