Tomorrow is National Parents’ Day, which is a holiday I insist on taking very seriously these days! Being a parent is the best in so many ways but it is also exhausting, challenging and tests your patience daily. It will forever be the job that I am most proud of. Not only has Charlie made me a mom but he has made me a more confident, patient, sympathetic and generally happy person. I have never in my life felt more content and secure in my role as a mom. A job that I truly feel I was born to do.
However, the days are long! At the end of most days I think to myself “what the heck just happened?” When I think about what I would want on National Parents’ Day the only thing I could think of was a great night’s sleep. No date night, no fancy dinner at home – just a good 8-10 hours of uninterrupted sleep. #momstatus We rely on a few things to ensure a full night’s sleep for our entire family.
Charlie’s bedtime ritual is a favorite in our home. It’s how we decompress and helps put the day behind us. After dinner, we walk upstairs, hand in hand, and immediately run Charlie a bath.
