I had been waiting to take advantage of fall in the Midwest and pull out some easy fall outfits I had been saving for weekends just like this. On Friday, Charlie, Dave, Webster and I packed up the car and drove to Wisconsin. We planned on going to my lake house for the weekend but decided to head up early and stop by a pumpkin patch/apple orchard with Charlie.

We visited Harvest Time Orchards after some friends went last weekend. I had heard that their donuts were incredible and they also had apple cider milkshakes! Plus, pumpkins, apples, jams, animals and other important things (of course I immediately gravitate towards the food).  Unfortunately apple picking season is over but they did have the cutest coral of goats, turkeys and a pig. Charlie was in awh! I loved watching his face light up and he kept saying “hi!” over and over and over in the sweetest little voice.

I’m not kidding when I say they probably had the best donuts I have ever had in my life. Hot, crispy on the outside, soft and doughy on the inside and caked in cinnamon sugar = heaven. I ate four. Dave ate six. It was embarrassing.

The temperatures have finally dropped in Chicago and I was so excited to pull out some new fall pieces including this plaid cape. I love the fringe detail. It also has openings for your arms which helps it to stay put. I layered it over my favorite turtlenecks for fall, my go-to skinny jeans and riding boots (which sadly they don’t make anymore on their site but I did find a full size run here – I hope that works!). This riding boot is similar!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Can you believe it is almost Halloween? Half of me feels sad that the year is almost over but I also can’t wait for the holidays.
