It is inevitable that we are going to have bad days but I try to make sure those moments are short term. I don’t want to waste my day feeling discouraged or unhappy. Here are a few things that work for me…
- Make a realistic list of things you want to get accomplished the next day (even if it is picking up the dry cleaning) before going to bed. This helps me feel more in control of my day. It allows me to go to sleep with a peaceful mind.
- Turn off your phone an hour before bed. I am really trying to read and not be blinded by cell phone light when it is time to sleep. I realize that I fall asleep quicker and stay asleep longer when I give my eyes a break. It keeps me from scrolling through instagram and focusing on the one image that reminds me of something I think I need to do or wish I could do.
- Wake up and give yourself a compliment. This may sound weird but I promise it works! Look in the mirror and tell yourself you are pretty or that your skin looks extra glowy or that you are funny or give yourself a cheesy smile and tell yourself you’ve got this!
- Dress the part. This is my best piece of advice! The worst feeling is when you walk out the door and the first person you see makes you wish you had worn something else. Your personal style is a choice and why wouldn’t you choose things that make you happy. Case in point: adorable bunny flats (can we talk about the pom pom tail in the back?!).
On Sunday we woke up to rain. We had been indoors majority of the weekend and I had a bunch of work to do. I was a little blue when I woke up to a muggy, rainy mess outdoors but was determined to enjoy the morning with my little family before I opened my computer. I put on this cute ruffle sweater and these darling ballet flats and immediately by mood perked up. We grabbed donuts and coffee and went on a relaxed stroll along the water. It was the best.
kate spade new york has the cutest shoes for fall (no surprise). My flats were just restocked but I know they are going to go fast! I wear flats all year round but I’m loving the loafer trend for fall – especially these bows and this leopard option. I love that kate spade new york shoes can make even the most simple outfits more appealing. I’m also eyeing these boots, these heels and I think I have to have these velvet and glitter Mary-Jane’s.
What makes you happy? Such a thought provoking question!!
