The Best Places to Shop for Baby

the best stores to shop for babySo many of you have asked where I shop for Charlie and I wanted to share a few of my favorite spots! Let me start by saying do not waste your money on buying your baby clothes for the first few months. Charlie lived in these Gerber onesies and a cozy blanket because 1. they spit up and poop constantly 2. you never leave your home and 3. they go through 4-5 outfits a day. I have so many adorable outfits for Charlie that were either worn once or never worn at all from newborn to 6 months old. You also never know what they will actually fit in – newborn sizes fit him normally when he was 2 months old and he still wears some 3-6 month outfits at 8 months. In Chicago our weather is constantly changing so it’s hard to take into account what he will be wearing just months ahead. Anyways, just buy the basics in the beginning and see how your little one grows over the first couple months. Now that Charlie is eating solid food he stains EVERYTHING, so remember that those investment pieces may get beat up pretty quickly.

Now that Charlie is 8 months old I am having so much fun buying clothes for him! Here are a few of my favorites:

Zara Kids – the cutest tees, leggings, fall sweaters and winter hats
Monica + Andy – the best basics, blankets and burp cloths (seen here)
Sprout San Francisco – such a cute shop. They carry favorite brands like Kickee Pants, Oeuf and Sapling and all of the essentials you need
Monograms on Webster – where we got this bubble, they also monogram winter sweaters and hats!
Old Navy – the best deal!
Joe Fresh (runs 1-2 sizes too big)
Gap Kids (runs wide)
Nordstrom – for EVERYTHING, like my favorite stroller here
Neiman Marcus – for extra special pieces, like these adorable overalls
Freshly Picked – the cutest moccasins
Target – the best Carter pajamas, Charlie loves the little animals on the feet! Also loving this Oh Joy! onesie

Ok guys, what am I missing? Any favorites stores? Charlie is wearing a gingham bubble from J.Crew baby that is sadly no more…

  1. I feel like Old Navy has had so many amazing baby/kids clothes lately and you can’t beat the prices especially when they have sales. I totally agree… Don’t go crazy with kids clothes because they grow out of things so quickly and stain them so easily. Carter’s is great too. They always have shorts and tees on sale for $5 and pjs for $8. As a mom of 3, it’s usually my go to store.
I also love Gap Kid’s and Old Navy’s jeans for my 2.5 year old son. He has skinny legs and a skinny waist so while he needs the length, most pants are too big on his waist. Gap and Old Navy’s pants run a little narrower in the leg (and also have skinny jeans for boys!! So hipster) and elastic waists which fit him perfectly.

  2. Great list! I’dd add Jojo Maman Bebe for good classic basics! Bella Bliss and Little English are also great for special pieces.

  3. Use dish soap on stains, wet the clothing, cover the stain with dish soap and rinse, repeat if needed. It gets almost everything out(except bleach stains). If the stain is super stubborn add some baking soda to the dish soap to make a paste.
I have two kids and this has saved so many outfits(and a lot cheaper than constantly buying stain remover)

  4. Great list! We also love Boden – they tend to hold up really well and are colorful and fun. Tea Collection has some cute things, too, although I find that they run a size small.

  5. I’m a first time Mama to be but loving the H&M clothes and they come highly recommended from friends/family.

  6. For my 13 month old girl (who admittedly is on the large end – 95% weight/99th% height), I also love Boden, Rosie Pope and some H&M. Old Navy and Carter’s were favs when she was a newborn, but they run a little small for her.

  7. You’ve covered most of our favorites too! And you’re so right – the first 6 months aren’t worth putting them in cute outfits. It’s onesies all the time!

We also love the June and January pieces – the rompers are great for summer. I roll up the legs and they are really lightweight for the heat here in Arizona!

  8. I have had incredible success with Nordstrom Rack online. In particular I love the Rosie Pope sleepers.

I would also add H&M for organic cotton basics. So cheap, and cute.
