2019 Holiday Gift Guide: Gifts that Give Back

Shop this gift guide: No. 1 1955 Yosemite National Park Map // No. 2 Byta Steel Water Bottle // No. 3 Patagonia Top Load Pack // No. 4 Patagonia Retro Fleece // No. 5 Bison Felt Coasters // No. 6 ONEHOPE Wine // No. 7 Patagonia Camp Mug // No. 8 Parks Project Candle // No. 9 Organic Teether Ring // No. 10 Askov Finlayson North Hat // No. 11 Pela Eco-Friendly iPhone Case // No. 12 Minnow Cruiser Skateboard

So excited about today’s gift guide because it was without a doubt our most popular gift guide from last year! I recruited my brother Will to select his favorite gifts from brands that give back. Will works for The Land Institute, a leader in reducing and eliminating the negative impacts of industrial agriculture. Will has always been a huge advocate for companies like this and works closely with a few of these brands through his position at TLI. All of these products were created with a bigger picture in mind—to help poor regions of the world, keep our oceans clean, donating to the homeless, protecting America’s greatest landscapes or creating jobs for those less fortunate all over the world. There is something special about a gift that means a little bit more. Here are some of our favorites:

A popular gift for family and friends alike, give a little extra this year with a wine from OneHope’s lineup, each of which directly supports a different non-profit. Their Vintner Collection Cabernet Sauvignon helps fund ABA therapy for children with autism. Our family loves One Hope!

These custom-printed waterway maps and vintage national parks prints from Muir Way would make for the perfect gift for anyone with a passion for the outdoors. A portion of each sale goes to non-profits like the Sierra Club Foundation. This Illinois Hydrology Map is kind of crazy to look at and this vintage map of Yosemite is beautiful!

My brother has this this iPhone case and it is so cool! Pela donates a % of every sale to Ocean Cleanup and Preservation Initiatives. Every phone case sold means less plastic in the ocean.

A great gift idea for older kids! For the little cruiser in your life, Bureo uses materials like abandoned fishing nets and other ocean dwelling plastic pollutants to craft skateboards and other adventure provisions.

Last year we shared byta’s tumbler—a favorite on-the-go coffee mug—and this year their new water bottle makes the list. It’s stylish and easy to carry, and with each purchase, they donate to the Ocean Conservancy.

Returning to the gift guide this year is the North hat from Askov Finlayson. This small Minnesota-based brand is on a mission to Keep The North Cold through their Give 110% program.

Bring the smells of your favorite national park right to your living room with the Parks Project candle collection. With each purchase, Parks Project deploys funds to help preserve and maintain the very park your bringing into your home.

Another stalwart brand in the world of corporate social responsibility, United by Blue’s new BisonShield Collection features a beautiful coaster set and valet made from salvaged Bison fiber. Going above and beyond their ethical sourcing, United by Blue still removes one pound of trash from our world’s oceans and waterways for every product sold. Today, that amounts to over 2,000,000 pounds removed. Amazing.

As the leader of the movement for businesses to factor in environmental impacts into every operating decision, Patagonia continuously churns out amazing products and gives away millions of dollars every year to environmental non-profits in the process. Whether it’s a new mug or pullover, you can’t go wrong gearing up your loved ones with this iconic brand.

How cute is this teething ring for little babes or new moms? Like all of their products, a portion of proceeds from this chewable teething ring go to organizations like Newborns in Need and Save the Children as part efforts to create meaningful impact in the lives of children everywhere.

Not pictures but I love this kids’ water bottle from MiiR! From the classroom to the trail, this bottle is sure to keep little ones hydrated despite whatever they may put it through. Though their Product to Project campaign, every Miir product sold contributes to a trackable project that you can follow and get involved in.

I also can’t forget Everlane – their extra mile gifts are amazing

No giveaway today! I hope you are encouraged to support these amazing brands doing amazing things.

A huge thank you to my brother for putting together this gift guide! He is a daily reminder that little efforts go a long way in helping to make our planet and world a better place. So proud of you, Will!
