Finally sharing all of the details of our family room which we recently updated this summer! This is by far our more lived in room and for the past two years it was filled with everything from our apartment in the city. Since this is the room we hang out in the most, I wanted to make it a place that felt light, comfortable and inviting. I reached out to my friend Meg of Megmade for help and I am so thrilled with how this room came together! Interiors are not my strong suit – I feel like there are so many styles that I love and I have a hard time envisioning them coming together. Meg came over one day and the entire room came to life so quickly! It’s also a small space so I’m thankful that everything we did makes the room feel cozy but also airy and bright.
We needed a new sectional and also wanted to add a chair for extra seating. Meg immediately recommended a lighter blue option (our previous couch was navy and showed EVERYTHING) for our couch to hide dog hair and any stains. We also went with a Crypton fabric which is a stain resistant fabric making it extra easy to clean! The couch is completely down filled and basically a CLOUD! It’s the perfect size for our space and I love the wood legs. It’s just the most perfect couch for our family. To compliment the light blue couch we did a stripe chair (fabric is customizable, please contact Meg for exact fabric details!)with the same wooden legs as the couch. I love this little chair SO much! It is super comfortable and a great price for a chair! Dave and I fight over who gets to sit in it every night, ha.
Working with Meg is special because everything is pretty customizable which is why I recommend reaching out to her if you’re really looking for specifics like window treatments. Our window treatments were completely custom because of our 5 windows, only 3 were the same. So Meg came out and measured everything and then we picked a natural fiber fabric. I love our shades because they don’t have any strings (I always fear these around kids!) and pull down and back up from the back super easily. Meg also added these custom pillows to bring in some color (I love the green!) into the room. So just to clarify, the window treatments are completely custom and were ordered through Meg. I don’t have an exact link for them!
The Kopa Rug has been a DREAM with kids. We have a 8×10 and it is the perfect cozy rug for a room that gets a lot of love. Not only does it hide spills but it is super easy to clean, super comfortable and doesn’t shed. I can’t tell you how many compliments we receive on this rug! Definitely helps neutralize the room and I love how fresh and light the print is.
I can’t tell you how much these changes have made to the feel of our home. I feel like this types of projects are something that you put off for a long time because obviously we can all make due with what we have! But especially the window treatments (like wow! biggest change to the room). The entire process just made me realize how important it is to love where you live. Sure I can stew on the fact that our house is teeny tiny and creaks like a MF’er BUT this home is ours and it makes us feel warm and loved and every morning and every night I’m so grateful for spaces like this. I tried to link everything above but also linking in the scroller below. If you have any specific questions, please leave them in the comments and I’ll respond!! xoxo
*disclosure: Meg offered us our couch, chair, rug, curtains and pillows and wholesale price in exchange for promotion of the services/products she offers! So although we didn’t pay complete full price, I would still HIGHLY (emphasizing highly!) recommend all of these pieces (you can contact them with questions)!! A huge thank you to Meg and the entire Megmade team! If you live in Chicago you MUST visit their storefront/warehouse – holy dream.
PS: I’m going to highlight some of our decor pieces and more in my IG stories later today if you’re interested! xoxo
