At the beginning of our quarantine Dave and I made a list of some projects we wanted to do around our house. Nothing too big, just some minor updates/fixes here and there. One of our biggest projects was giving a little face lift to our upstairs bathroom. The upstairs of our home has three bedrooms and one bathroom so it gets lots of use between the four of us. It didn’t need much but since it is a small space I knew that making it more neutral would help to brighten it up and feel a little larger. It’s crazy how small changes can make such a huge impact! Here are some before photos (and no judgement, these are untouched!):
Without doing too much we decided that we would paint, replace the hardware, add new lighting and new mirror. I wanted the palette to be neutral and loved the idea of black hardware so we went with that! If you remember from me talking on IG stories, we had issues finding a new medicine cabinet and mirror to work in this space since the size we needed was very specific. We tried to attach a new mirror to the existing medicine cabinet but it ended up being too heavy so we decided to scrape the medicine cabinet all together. Instead we found this thin metal mirror which fit PERFECTLY (literally the exact measurement we needed) and since we do have a lot of storage in this bathroom we knew we wouldn’t really miss the medicine cabinet.
We painted the bathroom Benjamin Moore “Classic Grey” to brighten up the space. I love the way it compliments the white bead board and helps the two blend together a bit. The black hardware makes everything pop and I’m so happy with how everything came together!
This has definitely been our biggest accomplishment of quarantine and thanks to Dave’s handyman abilities we were able to do everything ourselves. It’s amazing how small changes can have such a big impact!
