Oh my gosh you guys. I feel like I haven’t sat down and chatted with you in forever—so I thought I would spend this morning catching up! First of all, how is it September? All of a sudden summer was over and half of the things we said we were going to do didn’t end up happening. So is life with kids I think! I feel like this summer I really slowed down and enjoyed time with my family. I feel very happy about that. However, sometimes I look at this corner of the internet and think to myself that there is so much more that I want to do. But, the past 9 months have really been important to me as a mom, a business woman and an individual.
After I had Charlie I felt like it took me a full year to really own my roll as a mom. After Jack, I felt/feel so proud to be a mom of two boys that since he was born I have really been owning my mom status. When other women ask me about the greatest thing motherhood has taught me I always say “to be content.” I feel that more so in the past few months. I genuinely feel like my life is exactly where it should be. Some days I am MOM and some days I am in work mode. My life is heavily shifted towards motherhood but I feel like I’m excited for the direction that it is taking my business and my brand. I hope you guys feel the same way!
The next couple weeks are very work focused and I’m so excited about it. Last month I was browsing Pinterest and I came upon this quote – “you are only confined by the walls you build yourself.” It stuck with me! My biggest fault since becoming a mom is using it as an excuse for everything, especially when it comes to saying yes to things for work and pushing me outside of my comfort zone. I am such a homebody. I swear I get homesick whenever I leave my kids for a few hours, but I’ve realized the importance of putting myself into uncomfortable situations. I am usually a very outgoing, friendly person but I’ve become a bit of a hermit in motherhood – this quote has inspired me to say YES to more, push myself to do more and just genuinely work a little harder to advance my business. I have some really fun trips coming up over the next couple months (the first being next week!) that I can’t wait to share with you.
So we got home from South Carolina last night and it felt like we were gone for weeks. I walked in the door of our home and it felt like a foreign place – ha. It’s amazing what a few days with toddlers can do for your exhaustion levels. We all came home way more sleepy than when we left so lets just say I am very excited for a good night’s sleep in my own bed. We had THE BEST time. If you have never visited Charleston before, it is a must go! I shared some of our favorite places to visit in this post.
