In collaboration with Serta and Mattress Firm.
We have been in our new home for 6 weeks and it is slowly starting to come together. I am really trying to take my time with each room (and not buy all of the things). After renting in the city for 10 years, you realize how much money you waste on crap. Filling your space with items that either won’t last, are too trendy, you thought you were getting a deal on or just aren’t your style anymore. At least that was the case for us. Dave and I finally feel like we are at a point where if you spend money in the right places it will be worth it.
One of the first rooms that is a priority to me is our guest room. Dave’s family lives in Michigan and with friends venturing out to the suburbs to visit us I want to make sure there is a cozy room for them to stay the night. Do you remember the episode of Friends where Phoebe and Rachel’s apartment has a fire and Phoebe has to stay with Monica? Do you remember the guest room Monica creates in Rachel’s old room? It’s absolutely over the top but that is what I want for my guests! I want them to walk into their own little oasis of comfort. Our theme for the basement is kind of lake-y, Michigan cabin (Dave’s request) so we are going for cozy, cozy.
One small issue, our guest room is tiny. Like barely fits a queen bed. Luckily one of the walls is completely lined with built-ins, which bring so much character and life to the room. Since the bed is the main focus of any bedroom, I wanted to make sure the guest bed was warm and welcoming. Finding a mattress that would work well with every guest’s needs was a top priority! We were so excited to discover the Serta iComfort Mattress, which is sold exclusively at Mattress Firm, for so many reasons. It has temperature regulating technology infused into the mattress cover to adjust to your body temperature. That means regardless of your partner’s body temperature, the mattress adjusts to you. It dissipates heat, making sure you are comfortable. It also has a layer of their EverCool® Fuze Gel Memory Foam to promote air flow and reduce heat build up. For a pregnant woman in the summer, this is like heaven. I’ve actually already snuck downstairs twice in the night for a better night’s sleep.
I almost wish we had ordered this mattress for our own bedroom. Considering you spend 1/3 of your life sleeping, why would you not invest in a mattress that gives you a better night’s sleep? I know there are many night’s in our future when Dave and I will be racing to get to the guest room first (hello newborn stage).
