I was born at the same hospital where I delivered Charlie. I grew up in the western suburbs, left for college but made my way back to the city once I graduated and have established my home in Lincoln Park for the past 8 years. You could say that Chicago is in my blood and I feel very loyal to this lovely city and all that it has to offer.

Aside from the beautiful architecture, amazing food scene, our active lakeshore, beaches, Lake Michigan, the parks – my favorite thing about Chicago are the neighborhoods. Every area has a different vibe. Here are a few of my favorites…

We live in Lincoln Park which is definitely more of the neighborhood/family feel. It is surrounded by parks, nestled along the lake front and is home to DePaul University.  People are always out and about, grabbing coffee, setting up their offices in the park, dining al fresco or going on family walks. It is a happy, content and safe corner of the city.

My sister lives in the West Loop which is Chicago’s most up and coming neighborhood. Soho House is nestled on Green Street. Across the street is Green Street Smoked Meats, Parlor Pizza and RM Champagne Lounge. City Winery is the perfect place to spend the afternoon. Put your name in at Au Cheval (it’s usually a 3-4 hour wait) so you can try the burger.

Bucktown is another favorite neighborhood. Shop along Damen Avenue. Walk to Big Star and enjoy taco’s outside or pick up lunch to go from Goddess and Grocer. Grab a coffee at La Colombe or a lavender latte at Tom’s, and a donut from Stan’s. A great neighborhood to hang outside and enjoy!

Living in the Midwest and dealing with cool(er) temps 8-9 months out of the year, I’ve built quite the fall/winter wardrobe. Once summer rolls around I always find myself reaching for an extra layer, even when the temperature is 85 degrees. Layers are a way of life around here! I can’t help but get excited for fall to officially show its beautiful face.

Old Navy is encouraging people to celebrate their home state by styling a look that feels like a reflection of “home.” To me, home is comfort. It is casual style, layers, warmth, realistic and laid back. Chicago has amazing street style that is attainable, approachable and confident. It doesn’t focus on trends; it is easy.

This look represents just that. A dress that is appropriate regardless of the season (tights for winter, sandals for summer) and layered with a neutral plaid scarf and a classic camel coat. All of these items are pieces that remain tried and true favorites in my closet year after year. I’m also loving this floral shift dress, this cardigan, this flannel shirt, this ruffle blouse and these jeans.

For your momma’s out there, ON is having a sale on the latest kids, baby and maternity collections starting 9/15-10/2 and up to 50% off!
