This breakfast recipe is about as easy as it comes and great for the holidays when your house is full and you need something quick and delicious. I get in the zone when it comes to cooking this time of year. If I’m able, I like to make the extra effort to serve something homemade rather than a bowl of cereal to my kids. This recipe isn’t rocket science, I’m sure you’ve seen something similar around the internets. But this version came from items I usually have on hand. I like to use ground turkey with some “sausage” seasonings to bring in the warm and cozy flavor. Making this recipe a little leaner/healthier, too!
Sausage and Cheese Breakfast Wheels
Ingredients:
refrigerated Pilsbury crescent roll dough (or whatever brand you’d like!)
1 lb ground turkey
whipped cream cheese
everything but the bagel seasoning *EBTB
shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp ground sage
1 tsp ground thyme
salt and pepper
Preheat your oven to 375F. Brown up your ground turkey and season with ground sage, ground thyme, salt and pepper. Roll out your crescent roll dough and pinch together any seams. Spread cream cheese over top and add EBTB seasoning. Top with your ground turkey and shredded cheese. Roll up the dough, tucking everything in as you go. Using a serrated knife, cut the dough into 8 wheels. Place them in a casserole dish coated in a little butter. Cook for 14-18 minutes (keep an eye!) until your dough is browned. Enjoy!
