One of my most frequently asked questions is about my current workout routine. I feel like over the years, since adjusting to motherhood and new routines, I’ve dabbled in all sorts of workout regiments. I worked out with a personal trainer, got into running, found a fitness class I love – you can read a bunch of posts about it right here! Over the years, my mindset on fitness has changed and now I exercise to take care of my body, not for a number on the scale. It is more of a self care moment in my day rather than anything else!
In general, I try to workout 5 days a week. In my mind I hope to exercise more days during the week than less – so 4 days on, 3 days off. Usually it ends up being being 5 days of a more rigorous exercise where I get my heart rate up and 2 days a week I at least try to go on a walk or get 10,000 steps in (which usually happens in motherhood). Here is an example of what that could look like:
1 – 3-5 mile run
2 – hot yoga class
3 – weight video, I usually do Heather Robertson on Youtube or a class on our MYX Bike
4 – 30 minute interval ride on our MYX Bike
5 – hot yoga sculpt class
Before Covid I went to the gym to workout 5x a week and now majority of my workouts are done at home. I feel like I’ve tried everything when it comes to at home workouts and wanted to share some of my essentials! I use all these items throughout the week and although we don’t have a home gym, these items get the job done and I’m always happy to have them on hand!
