Art in Our Home

Anne Abueva

Buying art for our home has been the longest process when it comes to decorating. I feel like art is so important but you can’t really fill your walls until you’ve decorated the rest of the room. Unless of course you’re a collector and your art is the star but that’s not the case in our home. I’ve had so much fun discovering artist from Charleston/the South, introducing happy hues and shapes and coastal vibes through various pieces in our home. It’s definitely a work in progress but slowly I’ve been so excited about the pieces that have made their way onto our walls.

I love color, landscapes, texture and it is really interesting to see what kind of pieces I’m drawn to and whether they have symmetry to each other. I have a few pieces that I’m going to share below that I bought but need to still get framed! All of these pieces make me so happy.

Jean Ann Maynard, Teil Duncan
Laura Deems, Emily Brown
Ann Schwartz, Whispers of the Sun

Here are a few that I’m loving! I’ve found that following these artists on Instagram is the best way to get notified about their newest releases/collections. I just bought this piece from Jean Anne Maynard and she customized a couple of the boys to look like my kids – and the brown dog! It felt perfect for our family. I’ve had way more fun decorating our house than I thought I would!
