This recipe isn’t rocket science and is probably something that you already make in your home! The bun-less burger is one of our favorites and we love to make a variation of this a lot. The Defined Dish, one of my favorite cookbooks from one of my fave bloggers, is packed with family friendly meals and she makes a version of this. It reminded me that these recipes don’t need to be fancy and since this is such a staple in our home I thought I’d share it here!
To make this feel extra special I like to make a little jalapeño ranch in our food processor using greek yogurt. The jalapeño adds such a zip of flavor to the burger! I usually make a version of Half Baked Harvest’s recipe here and throw in one jalapeño, fresh cilantro and instead of buttermilk I’ll use lime juice + lime zest. I’m so bad at measuring this out and usually like to taste as I go but I’ll detail below the best that I can.
Cheeseburger Salad Recipe
Ingredients:
for the salad
1 lb ground beef
cheese of your choice (optional)
mixed greens of your choice (I like leafy greens and spinach)
cucumber
white onion
cherry tomatoes
1 jalapeno
for the dressing
1/2 cup greek yogurt
juice + zest of one lime
bunch/handful of cilantro
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried dill
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 jalapeño cut into 1 inch cubes
salt + pepper
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil (I add this at the end to make it really smooth + add teaspoons based on your preference)
In a food processor, add all of the dressing ingredients aside from the olive oil. Blend until smooth! If you feel like you need a little extra creaminess, add more yogurt and/or olive oil if needed!
Prepare the burger however you choose, we like to season and throw on the grill! Chop up your salad ingredients so everything is about the same size. Top with the salad dressing and serve! Easy peesy.
