One of the biggest questions I get in regards to health and fitness is how do you stay motivated? Everyone gets in a rut from time to time and my biggest tips are to not put too much pressure on yourself and to switch it up when you can! Easier said than done with busy schedules, expensive gym memberships and life in general. I’ve realized that what works for me is to workout and eat healthy more days than I don’t which usually means I dedicate 4 days out of the week to this idea. I’m always apt to eat healthier on the days I workout which is why these two go hand in hand for me. After working with a trainer for 6 months before getting pregnant again, I was a little burned out from the gym. My favorite thing about my trainer was that every day was different but it’s harder to push myself when it’s just me – you know? Enter Aaptiv. My newest workout obsession.

Let me start by saying that I am not one to use apps. I don’t know why but they just don’t really do it for me. I guess I’m a creature of comfort and need to take advantage of these things that are supposed to simplify our lives. However, I was recently introduced to Aaptiv and was immediately intrigued! It’s an audio fitness app that offers hundreds of classes taught by professional personal trainers. You can listen to full workouts (literally anything!) right from your headphones. It’s basically like having a trainer or membership to your favorite gym and/or fitness class all on your phone. All classes are programmed to playlists (good playlists, too!) that utilize slower tempo’s for low intensity and faster tempo’s for moments of high intensity. It is really motivational and pushes you to get a good workout every single time.

I love utilizing the treadmill/elliptical routines for cardio and the 7 minute quick hits and strength training programs for HIIT workouts and weights. It also has great stretching, yoga and meditation routines as well as training programs for 5K, 10K, half marathon and even full marathons. Before you start a class it will tell you the duration, calories burned and the highest intensity you can expect so you’re not totally surprised. You can even search by instructors (I love Kira!) and it saves all of your favorite classes. I’ve done programs at the gym and from the comfort of my home which makes it easy to accomplish a workout 4x per week.

In the past few month I’ve started utilizing their maternity program (I wish I had started earlier). It is a week by week guide to your pregnancy with four custom workouts (usually a total body strength and three cardio options) all taught by pre and post natal certified Aaptiv trainers. One of my biggest struggles throughout pregnancy is pushing myself too hard. I always think I can do way more than I can and I love knowing that these workouts are approved for each week of your 9 month journey. Also, everything is really manageable. I love that I can get a good workout in in 20 minutes and that I can do it anywhere. It’s such an affordable solution for those struggling to keep up with all of the gym memberships out there (trust me, I know it is daunting).

Use code LIZSS to get 30% off their yearly membership! Only $69.99 (originally $99.99!).

In collaboration with Aaptiv, all opinions are sincerely my own!
