New Home Inspiration

new home inspirationDave, Webster, and I {and our little bean to be!} are moving! We are staying in Chicago but after almost 6 years in the same apartment nestled in Lincoln Park – we are packing up for more space so this family of three can become a family of four. For those of you that live in the city, you know that finding a new place to live can be tough. I have avoided the joys of moving {read: I hate moving.} for awhile and trying to find that perfect apartment to make your home is not an easy task. There are a lot of things you want but can’t have, budgets that you wish could be stretched just a littttttle bit {Dave? (;}, and sacrifices to be made. We actually have yet to find our new home {fingers crossed it is checked off our to-do list in the next couple of weeks} but I can’t help but get excited about a NEW space.

I’m sure some of you can relate but living in the same place for a long period of time can become stagnant, especially when you don’t have a ton of room and your furniture is crammed in the only way possible so nothing ever changes {that would be us!}. I’m ready to purge whatever is hiding in the back of my closet, get rid of the items that we don’t use, finally be able to stock our home with all of our amazing wedding gifts that have been living at my parent’s house and really just start fresh. Not to mention I can’t wait to visualize where our baby will sleep once he or she comes into the world!

I know it’s not realistic to visualize what I want for our apartment before we even move, but over the past few weeks I’ve been bookmarking interiors and items that will inspire our new space! There are definitely a few items we need to purchase: a new sofa, a coffee table, new nightstands, and a dresser but pending on space {and the possibility of actually having a dining room table!} we will be able to add a lot more. Here are a few items inspiring my search {now we just have to find the couch + coffee table at a fraction of the price!}

So readers I have to ask – what are your favorite home stores? I love West Elm, CB2, One Kings Lane, Furbish, Waiting on Martha, and Biscuit but if money weren’t an issue I would love to buy everything Williams Sonoma Home has to offer!

  1. I love all the home stores that you mentioned above, but always find my way back to Target for little details. I think that they have a a lot of great pieces with good price points. Especially with a dog (and a baby in your case!) it’s nice to have pieces that you love, but aren’t attached to because of their price!

  2. I just ordered a few things from Lulu & Georgia for our bedroom update! I hope finding a new space is quick and painless for you 🙂 I’ll send you all the good moving vibes I can muster.

  3. I am in the same boat as you!!! I am 14 weeks pregnant and once we found out I started looking for a new plAce for us. It has been so hard to find something I love in our price range and my husband won’t budge on the price. I want one section of the city and he wants another. I just want to find a place already so we can get settled before the baby arrives! I love mixing places–always want everything from Pottery Barn but actually find a lot of decent things at Home Goods–just have to go practically every day and buy ASAP or else it’s gone for good. Good luck hopefully we get our dream home soon 🙂

  4. We just moved up to Ravenswood, and I gotta say, everyone’s got a dog and/or a baby bump! You’d fit in perfectly! Check out Roy’s in LP for furniture. They have next-day delivery, a good selection, and good prices. I also got a bunch from West Elm. They have such good deals and customer service. Good luck with the move!

  5. Best of luck with the search! Finding a place in the city is no easy feat, but I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll love soon. In addition to the sources you shared, I also love Ballard Designs and Home Decorators Collection for traditional pieces that are nice quality and reasonably priced.

  6. Williams & Sonoma is great, I also like Pottery Barn and Arhaus Furniture. While I love our place, and it’s a good size, my husband will often look at listings online. It’s fun to dream. 🙂 Good luck with finding a new place, I’m sure that you will. Love your inspiration board too. 🙂

  7. You have got to look at Joss and Main. (similar to One Kings Lane, but even more affordable.) You will love it. I used it a lot when I moved into my first condo 2 years ago! 🙂 Good luck

  8. You live in Chicago you might like he sofas at Jayson home and Garden too. See you in Glenview in a few years LOL.
