You all know how much I love to cook but I HATE doing the dishes. It’s one of those tasks that I put off until the sink is full and then I kick myself for making the situation worse. Over the past 6 months, we have been making a lot of meals at home which means more plates, more water, more runs of the dishwasher. I remember looking at Dave and thinking, “How can we go through this many dishes in a day?” It was a realization that opened my eyes to how much water we use pre-rinsing our dishes in the sink before even loading and running the dishwasher! We needed to make a change.

I’m excited to partner with Finish to help support their #SkiptheRinse initiative with the goal of encouraging Americans to conserve water by skipping the pre-rinse step when doing dishes. By pledging to #SkipTheRinse, Americans can conserve up to 150 billion gallons of water annually. As a part of the pledge, Finish has committed to donating $1 for every Skip the Rinse Pledge, with a minimum of $100k and up to $400k, in support of water conservation projects in the US through The Nature Conservancy, plus $1 for every #SkipTheRinse pledge made at www.skip.finishdishwashing.com, from now until March 2021. I’m really proud to help spread the word on this amazing initiative and make a difference by skipping the rinse in our own home! We have this blue ribbon tied around our faucet as a reminder to skip the rinse and instead discard extra food in the bin and place the dishes directly into the dishwasher, knowing that Finish Quantum will make them sparkling clean.
