My Indulgent Quarantine Skincare Routine

I’ve sort of become a little bougie with my skincare routine during our extra time spent at home. With more time on my hands and more makeup-free days I’ve been taking full advantage of letting my favorite products really set in and work their magic. I thought I’d share an update to my day and night routine, my favorite masks and some body products I’m loving, too. My skin is combination but more on the dry side than oily. I don’t usually get breakouts (aside from random hormonal stuff here and there) and my main goal is to combat wrinkles/aging, encourage cellular turnover and collagen production (which continues to decrease as we get older) and keep my skin moisturized. All of these products are great for what I’m personally looking for! I want to emphasize this because we all have different skin needs and I think it’s important to take advice from someone who has similar needs/qualities to yours.

My Nighttime Skincare Routine

I’m starting with my nighttime routine because I think it’s the most important! At night I tend to use stronger and more effective products that can get to work on my skin while I’m asleep. I like to get my face really clean and layer products that complement each other. I notice that this routine has helped my skin look brighter, smoother, plumper, moisturized and youthful! Also, I want to note that not every day is the same! Some nights I keep it more simple and some days I really go to town!

Step 1: Cleanse. I’ve been double cleansing to really make sure my pores are cleaned out and ready for product. I notice I need this more in the summer when I’m doubling up on sunscreen throughout the day and it’s humid/muggy outside. I’ll start with Tula’s Purifying Cleanser (you know how much I love this stuff! Use code LIZADAMS for 15% off) to really lather and purify the skin and then Skinceuticals Gentle Cream Cleanser which is so nice and soothing and leaves your skin feeling clean and soft.

*I want to note, I also like cleansing balms like Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm or Beautycounter’s Cleansing Balm but I usually prefer to use in the winter. They provide a little too much oil/moisture to my skin during a time where I feel like my skin is already on the oilier side in the summer thanks to humidity, sweat, etc.

Step 2: Toner + Go Pro. I do this 3x a week. If you’re not familiar with the Glo Pro it is an at home micro needling facial regeneration tool that amplifies skincare absorption up to 200% (!!!) and helps skin appear more firm and smooth. It doesn’t hurt and it’s really up to you to decide what the pressure is but it really opens up your skin and allows it to better consume the products you are about to apply! When I use the Glo Pro I’ll start with a Toner to open up my pores and I’ve been loving this one from Dime Beauty. It’s super simple and effective. Again, this combo happens 3x a week.

Step 3: Serums. So if I’m not using the Glo Pro then step 2 of my routine will be the Biossance Resurfacing Night Cream. Exfoliating is one of if not THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE. Your products aren’t going to work unless you have the best layer of skin available to absorb them! Exfoliating gets rid of all of the dead skin cells to reveal dramatically smoother, softer, and glowy skin. I like to apply this and then leave alone for 20 minutes before adding anything else. If I am using the Glo Pro then I’ll follow up with Dime Beauty (I’ve been loving their products!) Power Serum. An antioxidant powerhouse, this potent serum is armed with 20% Vitamin C and is super-charged with Ferulic Acid, Sweet Orange Extract, Magnolia Bark Extract, and Grape Seed Extract which increases its free radical fighting ability. For the price, this stuff is LEGIT. So basically between these two serums I switch off almost every other night.

Step 4: Eye Cream. Ive been loving Skinceuticals Eye Balm lately! For me, the eye area is all about extra moisture to combat wrinkles. I love putting this all around the under eye, eyelid, in-between my brows and around the brow bone. I think keeping these areas moisturized is the best defense you can provide against anti aging. It’s such a delicate area and this eye balm is thick and stays put!

Step 5: Moisturize. Ok, I know this is obnoxiously expensive but AUGUSTINUS BADER IS A HOLY GRAIL PRODUCT. Within days of using this I was getting countless DM’s complimenting my skin. The results are almost immediate and although it costs an arm and a leg, I don’t think I can ever go back. I have been using the Rich Cream and the science behind this product is pretty crazy! I’ll let this description tell you:

Intense and luxurious hydration ideal for dry skin or a nighttime routine. The cream features groundbreaking stem-cell technology to trigger your existing stem cells to repair and renew your skin.

A pioneer in the field of stem cell research, Professor Augustinus Bader brings his thirty years of expertise and innovative technology to your vanity in the form of rich hydration and ultimate skin replenishment. Featuring the Trigger Factor Complex—a combination of natural amino acids, high-grade vitamins, and synthesized molecules—the cream activates regeneration of the body’s own stem cells. By supporting the body’s innate renewal processes, the formula visibly reduces signs of aging as well as damage caused by environmental stressors. The Rich Cream is also packed with all-important lipids to help support skin’s protective moisture barrier, nurturing a softer, more supple complexion that glows with health.

Augustinus Bader Rich Cream has been the biggest change to my routine and the most effective by far. I use 3-4 pumps every night and my bottle has lasted me 6 weeks so far. If you’re looking for a similar level a moisture (without the AB technology) then I would recommend Weleda Skin Food! It’s also RICH so use sparingly. *shout out to Grace Atwood for always giving the best beauty reccs.

My Daytime Skincare Routine

Step 1: Cleanse. I’ve been using either the Billie Wonder Wipes (looove!) or Skinceuticals Gentle Cleanser. Both are super gentle and don’t strip your skin, a great way to start the day!

Step 2: Serums. I’ve been starting with the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic daytime serum (warning, this smells like hotdogs hahaha but it’s LEGIT). Watch the apple video at this link! It’s pretty amazing. Vitamin C serums/antioxidant serums are probably the most prevalent in my beauty cabinet. I love that this one is thicker, more absorbing and packs a punch. More active than the Dime Beauty Power Glow. I’ll follow this up with the Skinceuticals HA Intensifier, great for maintaining moisture all day. *If I’m keeping my routine simple and want my skin to air out a little then I’ll apply Dime Beauty’s Hyaluronic Acid after cleansing and let it set for awhile.

Step 3: Eyes. Tula Rose Glow + Get It Eye Balm to wake up the eyes! Brightens, depuffs, cools and basically does everything you need in the morning. I keep in the refrigerator for an extra blast of cooling. Use code LIZADAMS for 15% off!

Step 4: Moisturize. I like to wear a light moisturizer during the day. Something that absorbs quickly and doesn’t sit on to top of your skin, especially in the summer when the temperatures heat up! I love Dime Beauty’s Dewy Day Cream or Beautycounter’s Soft Cream. You can’t go wrong with either!

Step 5: Sunscreen. Tula’s Protect + Glow has been my go-to lately! A glowy SPF, no makeup needed or the perfect layer for under your foundation. Use code LIZADAMS for 15% off!

Step 6: Lips. I’ve been reaching for this Tatcha Lip Mask! It’s shiny and stays put without being sticky or tacky. Perfect for daily wear.

My Favorite Face Masks

I’ve been indulging in my fair share of mid-day face masks since we’ve been home. They are such a little treat and instantly make me feel like I just had a facial. Here are my favorites…

Farmacy Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask. This stuff is GOOD. If you feel like your skin has been lacking moisture or needs a high dose of love, this is it. This mask warms as you massage it into your skin and once it’s removed your skin will feel buoyant, full, and extremely hydrated!

Biossance Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Mask. This mask is basically a facial in a jar. It’s everything you want your face to feel like after a face mask that DOES WORK. It exfoliates, polishes and smooths your skin leaving your pores feeling fresh and clean. It also hydrates so not only does your skin feel de-gunked but it’s left feeling hydrated and plump!

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask. If you feel like your skin looks dull and ashy then this will immediately turn it around! I always feel like my skin glows after this mask. It helps shrink pores, absorbs oil and buildup and sloughs off dead skin cells and smooths uneven skin texture.

Farmacy Coconut Gel Sheet Mask. This is a great mask to use after the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask! Ultra hydrating and smoothing! Just a great boost of moisture and makes your skin feel happy. True story: Dave steals these from me allll the time. I keep them stocked to give to friends!

My Favorite Body Skincare

I’ve raved about Necessaire since learning about them last year and it has been a staple in my routine ever since! The Eucalyptus Body Essentials set is my favorite. I’ve noticed my skin stays more hydrated and the natural oils aren’t stripped when I use these together. A game changer!

I think that’s it! I have soooo many random favorites that I may switch in now and then but these have been on heavy routine and get the job done! I’ll share a peek at my beauty cabinet on IG stories (it’s a mess). While I was taking photos of these products Jack kept saying “mama, picture!” So here is a sweet little photo of Jack for good measure 🙂

What are your skincare must-haves?! I love learning about new products!
