Before I met Dave I had never been to Michigan. I feel like when you’re from Chicago you either venture to Wisconsin or Michigan in the summer and my family always went to Wisconsin. However, my mom was actually born in Birmingham, MI (where Dave is from) and Dave’s grandfather was her family’s pediatrician – SMALL WORLD. I digress.

Michigan is beautiful! The lakes alone are incredible but the small towns that line Lake Michigan are probably my favorite. Dave’s dad lives in Northern Michigan near Traverse City. We have been lucky enough to visit a ton of towns in this area – Glen Arbor, Leland, Sutton’s Bay, Charlevoix – the list goes on but one of my favorites is Frankfort. It is the sweetest little beach town on the northern shores of Lake Michigan, surrounded by dunes and lined with cute boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants. 

I love time away when you can throw on your easiest pieces and just be. You don’t worry about makeup or doing your hair. You just let it go! The epitome of summer. Like I mentioned above, this dress is such a staple. I can never have enough t-shirt dresses and this, this and this are a few of my favorites. An open knit sweater is a MUST HAVE when the weather cools down. I’m wearing this J.Crew sweater but I love this one, this one, this one and this one. 

My parent’s bought Charlie’s star pullover in France so unfortunately I don’t have a link for it! If you’re looking for cute sweaters for your kiddos I love this and this. His leggings are from Zara (sold out, similar here) and his shoes are NATIVE (size up 1 size). Dave’s stripe tee is here and his all time favorite shorts!
