My Cozy Winter Essentials

I can’t believe that we are less than two weeks away from Christmas. There is so much to do! I have not wrapped one gift and still have a handful of people to shop for. I just can’t seem to get my act together this year. I’ll blame it on Charlie and the fact that this year feels extra special with him in full discovery mode. We have been signing and dancing to Christmas tunes, hiding from the cold and really doing nothing at all. It feels good.

We have a big cold front coming through this week – like high of 9 degrees on Thursday. When you live in the Midwest you tend to have a lot of winter accessories. I have more hats than I know what to do with (like this and this) but I had been eyeing this adorable beanie for literally months and finally pulled the trigger. It’s an accessory that makes every outfit better. It definitely has a higher price tag but when winter lasts 7-9 months I decided it needed to be mine. The pink color is so pretty but I also love the grey.

Most winter days a coat, hat, gloves and boots make up your entire outfit. Usually layered over comfy denim and a cozy sweater in my case. Just because these items feel basic, doesn’t mean they have to be! I love the floral print on this Rebecca Taylor sweater. A brand that I love and season after season their collections always feel like a reflection of my personal style. Another investment but honestly these pieces play serious rolls in my wardrobe year after year. I’ve learned to forgo the $100 sweaters (that don’t wash well and only get 5-10 good wears) and save up for sweaters that hold up for seasons to come.

Nordstrom carries so many cozy staples for winter that would be timeless in any woman’s wardrobe. This beautiful coat is on my Christmas list, I love this cozy waffle cardigan, this adorable pom pom sweater and this ear beanie, too!

If you’re looking for a stylish winter coat I suggest this, this and this. Also, Nordstrom’s new arrivals are so good – including this dress, this gingham top, this blouse, this dress and this ruffle sweater

PS: I was on the hunt for a cute pair of winter boots that didn’t feel like winter boots…I ordered these and they are super cute!! Not super clunky but warm and stylish. Just FYI!
