Charleston Favorites

wearing this Sea dress, old Loeffler Randall bag

This post is long overdue! I get messages every day asking for my favorite Charleston restaurants, activities to do with kids, hotels, coffee shops and more. The truth is, I’m still learning! We haven’t even scratched the surface when it comes to exploring all of the incredible spots around this city.

But I love hearing how many of you are planning trips with your families or girlfriends so I hope this small list of favorites helps you with your planning! In all honesty, we haven’t taken our kids downtown too much. We live in Mount Pleasant, just north of Charleston, so we usually stay close to home with them. However they do love to go to the Charleston Aquarium! We’ve also rented a boat from the Isle of Palm marina and we love to take them to the beach on Sullivan’s Island.

Majority of the questions I get are around weekends with friends or your significant other so these are more my recommendations when you don’t have kids in toe! There are definitely restuarants listed below where you can bring your kids (Little Jacks, Leon’s, Butcher + Bee + HomeTeam are places my kids have been!) but do your research and plan accordingly.

A lot of the questions I get are around bachelorette parties and honestly I am so out of the game that I don’t even know where to begin with making plans for something like that! We don’t really go out drinking anymore so I am not super knowledgeable on the best bars to grab a drink. I would say check out all of these amazing restaurants and see if their vibe/menu fit the bill for what you’re looking to plan! I would recommend any and all for a girls dinner, depending on how elevated you want to be! I am at the phase of life where I am all about an indulgent, fancy dinner over a night out bar hopping.

When it comes to where to stay, I’ve only actually stayed at Zero George, The Dewberry and 86 Cannon. Zero George is very romantic and small – great for a couples weekend. The Dewberry has an amazing rooftop bar and Lobby bar/restaurant plus gorgeous interiors. 86 Cannon is beautiful but more of a bed and breakfast if you’re looking for something more quaint. I’ve heard Hotel Bennett is great for kids (they have a rooftop pool!). Again, I can’t touch on these too much because I don’t know!

If you have any other suggestions for people to refer to, leave them in the comments! It’s always great to see reader recommendations, too!
