Dave's Favorite Things

This handsome guy needs very little. He isn’t fussy, he is low maintenance, he knows what he likes and buys those brands/items over and over again. He isn’t one to experiment too much (which I appreciate!) and always maintains this low key sense of style that is classic and casual. I love that about him.

Every holiday season I ask Dave to do a roundup of some of his (personal) favorite things because I feel like it serves as a great gift guide in itself for the men in your life. I often buy the same item for my dad, brother and brother-in-law based on items that are tried and true favorites of Dave. If it is Dave Adams approved it will usually be a hit with the majority of men. This year I’m excited to partner with Nordstrom to share some of Dave’s go-to items in his closet!

Classic outerwear is a must in our wardrobes given the consistent change of seasons in Chicago. We have all sorts of layers but two brands that stand out as Dave’s favorites are Patagonia and Barbour. Dave has two or three of their classic quilted jackets and year after year they remain a staple in his wardrobe. Sadly his exact jacket is sold out but few very similar favorites here, here and here! For Patagonia, you can pretty much always find Dave in his Better Sweater (he wears a medium) or his Down Jacket when the weather really cools down. I love that both of these brands maintain the classic, casual style which is all you need in 2020.

Dave’s FAVORITE pants are by AG. Jeans, chinos, anything – their entire collection is a brand of pants that he always trusts. Two of his favorite styles are these Jamison Slim Straight Leg Pants and these Dylan Skinny Fit Jeans. I know the word “skinny” can be intimidating when searching for a pant silhouette but in my personal experience (and Dave is not a “skinny” leg fit person!), a straight leg is sometimes still not fitted enough. I recommend experimenting with skinny styles!

Another Dave Adams special – sneakers! But like casual, cool sneakers…nothing too over the top. He has had these Nike Killshot sneakers for 2 years (he has the navy) and wears them all the time. He also loves the Good Man Legend Low Top sneakers (I actually ordered him this pair in sand suede for Christmas – shh). Two styles that I would say go with everything!

And plaid shirts! Another staple in Dave’s wardrobe. He usually gravitates towards a slimmer fit and I love the muted tones of this style from Bonobos. It’s a softest brush flannel and perfect for colder temps but not so heavy that you get overheated. A few other plaid styles we love are here, here, here and here.
