Welp, ever since it snowed on Halloween it appears that winter is here to stay. But here’s a little Liz Adams hot take for you: I love getting dressed this time of year. My fall/winter wardrobe contains some of my favorite pieces in my closet, and I’m pretty happy every time I get to pull them out. A good pair of denim, a cozy sweater, a classic coat and a fun pair of booties is my go-to winter outfit formula, and it’s an outfit that really makes me feel so much like myself!
Even more so than spring or summer, my fall/winter wardrobe tends to contain more classic styles. I think this happens for two reasons: 1) these pieces all get so much wear between October and April that I tend to stay away from trendy items that I’ll get tired of after just a few wears and 2) you naturally wear more layers when it’s cold outside (obviously), and sticking to timeless styles tends to make you look and feel more put-together when you have to combine so many different pieces.
Lots of you requested more classic winter style inspiration, and ten times out of ten I’ll say that you can never go wrong with Everlane. You’ve seen me style a weekday mom look, a cozy cold-weather outfit, and even a date night look (just update to a black bodysuit for winter). You could truly build an entire winter wardrobe just based on Everlane pieces!
I’ve been wanting to try Everlane’s ’90s Cheeky Straight Jean for a while, and I finally ordered a pair the other day. You guys, these jeans are so good. The waist hits you at just the right height, I love the light distressing on the knee, and the classic vintage cut makes your booty look good, haha. I think that this darker wash is perfect for winter, too! Even better, these jeans are under $80, so a no-brainer if you’re looking for more denim to build out your winter wardrobe.
I also can’t get enough of this cashmere cardigan sweater (confession: I’ve already worn it three times this week). It’s one of those sweaters that goes with everything, and you could easily dress it up with slacks and heels for the office or dress it down with a comfy pair of joggers for lounging around the house. I finished this no-fail winter look with this gorgeous camel coat and these black booties that have just enough edge to keep things interesting. They’re also called the Boss Boots, and if wearing a pair of those doesn’t give you the confidence to take on your day, I don’t know what will!
Think of this outfit as one of my mini capsule wardrobes, winter edition! All tried-and-true classics that will become mainstays in your closet for years to come!
A big thank you to Everlane for partnering on this post!
