With freezing temperatures in Chicago, my ideal Valentine’s Day includes a nice dinner with Dave (and my two little loves!) followed by a cozy date night on the couch with a good movie. Although I may not be wearing my favorite red dress I still want to look and feel cute for my hubby. Today I’m sharing some fun Valentine’s Day outfit ideas plus a few ways to celebrate from the comfort of your home.

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Honestly, it’s not something that we go out of our way to plan. Now that we have two little Valentines to celebrate with we usually stay cozy at home and do something special that includes them, too! Dave and I usually plan a date night of our own at some point during the week but the actually holiday is celebrated with the boys. Here are a few fun date night ideas to enjoy with your family:

Valentine’s Day Date Night Ideas
(to enjoy with your family!)

  • Make your own heart shaped pizza night! Buy pre-made dough and make little pizzas in the shape of a heart. Put out all of the toppings and let the kids have fun decorating their own pizzas. Adults have champagne and pour some sparkling white grape juice for the kiddos! Sometimes we will even make a dessert pizza with a cinnamon sugar crust, nutella, bananas/strawberries and sprinkles – mmmm!
  • Game night! Charlie loves Hungry Hungry Hippo and Operation so we will make the entire dining room table into a big game room. We like to hand out stickers for every game won and then giveaway little prizes. This is a fun night to do with friends, too! I swear it keeps the kids entertained for hours.
  • Picnic dinner and movie night! Charlie looooves laying out a big blanket on the floor of our family room and having a picnic. For movie night we will all eat dinner on the floor together and then I’ll make three bowls of popcorn for dessert – cinnamon sugar, butter and cayenne pepper (for the adults!), and sprinkles and chocolate chips.

We love to go out to eat but there is something about being cozy at home with the ones you love!

Although this holiday isn’t one I necessarily go all out for, I do love dressing the part! I’ve found so many cute pieces for Valentine’s Day that I know you would love. My cardigan is so so cozy (I’m wearing the XS) and I love the surprise heart on the back. If you have cozy plans indoors then I love this, this and this or if you plan to get a little more dressed up I love this pretty pink sweater paired with a sequin skirt or this gorgeous red dress with some fun baubles or even this cute leopard shirtdress with OTK boots.

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Do you dress up or do you lay low at home? Let me know in the comments!
