I don’t know about all of you, but I have the hardest time getting dressed in the summer. I love breaking out the denim, cozy sweaters and stylish layers the rest of the year, but as soon as the temperature rises above 80 degrees during these warmer months, I get overwhelmed. Especially in Chicago where it can be so darn humid, I need outfits that are appropriate for work or socializing but won’t leave me drenched in sweat after walking a couple of blocks (so appealing, right?). Enter the day-to-night dress: an easy outfit-maker that looks super cute but still keeps you cool. I’ve done the research to find some of the best summer dress options, all budget-friendly and perfect for going straight from daytime to drinks or date night.
I think everyone needs a classic white or striped shirtdress in their closet.
I can’t get enough of all the button details this season…this LWD (with pockets!) is 40% off, people are raving about this button-down midi dress, and you may have seen Liz wearing this midi dress in this post.
After hearing one of my girlfriends rave about this dress for several summers in a row, I finally ordered it in black—now I wear it all the time. It’s incredibly flattering and really easy to dress up with sandals and statement earrings for a night out. I also love this dress in a similar style, but with a waist-flattering tie-belt.
You can never go wrong with floral details—I own and love this dress (currently 20% off!), this one-shoulder style is darling, and this midi style is dreamy.
This striped chambray dress is the ultimate breezy style (and how cute are those ruffle sleeves?)
This is one of my favorite dresses from the Gal Meets Glam collections—I think that lavender color is so gorgeous.
How great would this yellow dress look with a tan? (I love this tie-back style, too…oh, and this one, too!)
This block print maxi is an essential summer style—and it’s one of my favorite color combinations!
Lastly, this isn’t technically a dress, but this eyelet romper will go with everything!
Happy Saturday and happy shopping!
