I don’t know about all of you, but I have the hardest time getting dressed in the summer. I love breaking out the denim, cozy sweaters and stylish layers the rest of the year, but as soon as the temperature rises above 80 degrees during these warmer months, I get overwhelmed. Especially in Chicago where it can be so darn humid, I need outfits that are appropriate for work or socializing but won’t leave me drenched in sweat after walking a couple of blocks (so appealing, right?). Enter the day-to-night dress: an easy outfit-maker that looks super cute but still keeps you cool. I’ve done the research to find some of the best summer dress options, all budget-friendly and perfect for going straight from daytime to drinks or date night. 

I think everyone needs a classic white or striped shirtdress in their closet.

After hearing one of my girlfriends rave about this dress for several summers in a row, I finally ordered it in black—now I wear it all the time. It’s incredibly flattering and really easy to dress up with sandals and statement earrings for a night out. I also love this dress in a similar style, but with a waist-flattering tie-belt.
