It’s hard to ignore that back to school feeling you get after Labor Day. The days are shorter, the nights are cool and our calendar slows down. Although I no longer actually head back to school, I still prepare the same way I used to! Instead of school supplies I stock up on new sweaters, maybe a fall coat and new shoes. Rather than packing my backpack for the first day of school, I’m prepping Charlie for a cozy season ahead. It’s still the same feeling I got when I was a kid. I’m excited for a new schedule, new wardrobe, new recipes and for fall temperatures to take over.

I always tend to go back to the basics for fall. After celebrating bright colors, airy fabrics and bold prints all summer it is refreshing to stick to what I know works season after season. A great pair of jeans, cardigans, stripe tee’s, a denim jacket, cozy sweaters, flannel shirts – tailored items that can be mixed and matched to create a bunch of outfits. My go-to prints in the fall are always stripes and leopard. I love the classic combo of these two together because they always make an effortless statement. I paired my new leopard heels with tailored pants, a stripe tee and my go-to denim jacket for an easy look that can be worn to work, school, play, etc.

Dressing Charlie gets more and more fun the older he gets and Old Navy always has the cutest stuff for toddlers. I’ve already stocked up on overalls, flannel shirts, puffy vests, this camo jacket and basic tee’s for him for fall. Getting him ready for daycare twice a week has been so much fun! It’s a little peek into my future when I actually do get to relive those back to school days in September. His little overalls (they aren’t online yet!) paired with this cute sweatshirt sort of kills me. Now when I ask him to smile he says “cheeeeeeese” with the biggest grin! Every age with him is so much fun.

What makes you excited for fall?

PS: How cute is this adorable bomber jacket? Waaaaant.
