You guys, if you’re looking for a trip that is all about the outdoors – Sun Valley, Idaho could not be a more perfect spot. I want to relieve these images again and again. These photos make me happy.

A lot of you have asked about our trip so I wanted to share a few details. I was at my parents house talking to them about how I wanted to surprise Dave with a trip for our second wedding anniversary. Initially I was thinking about going back to the beach where we spent our honeymoon. However, we love fall and I didn’t want to miss out on an autumn weekend.

Our neighbors and best family friends happen to live next door to my parents and they were over that night. They have a home in Sun Valley and graciously offered that Dave and I take it for the weekend. I gladly took them up on the offer! I decided to schedule as many outdoor activities that I could. Fly fishing through Silver Creek Outfitters, bike rides, hikes (we did the Chocolate Gultch Trail) and a trip to Redfish Lake.

On Friday morning we took a bike ride and came across the prettiest bridge overlooking the Big Wood River. It was 32 degrees when we woke up. I grabbed my favorite Penfield coat, pom pom hat, tech friendly gloves and trusty Hunter boots. I came prepared for the cold (I guess living in Chicago always makes you prepared). After checking the temps before we left I knew I had to stock up on new winter accessories. You have to buy this stuff early because the cute hats, gloves and scarves are always sold out early.

I buy these gloves every year because for some reason I lose one of them without fail. They are the warmest tech gloves I have found (but these are my back ups that I keep in the car/my diaper bag!). I received this pair for Christmas last year and I keep them on reserve for really cold days. The cute pom pom hats always go fast – like this, this, this and this. Nordstrom is my go-to spot for accessories regardless of the season. You can find my favorite handbag, my go-to warm socks, my suede booties, the stud earrings I wear everyday, our diaper bag and my curling iron. It is no surprise that I shop at Nordstrom frequently but that is because it really has everything we could possibly want for our wardrobes and home.
