Looking back at these photos makes me miss that beautiful blue water – it was absolutely incredible. There is something about warm weather that just puts you in a better mood almost immediately. I remember stepping off the plane and feeling relaxed instantly. I wanted my wardrobe to reflect that feeling while we were in Turks & Caicos and I can honestly say that everything I packed made me feel happy.

I wanted to pack pieces that would be appropriate for almost every situation – morning walks on the beach, lunch outside, days at the pool, casual dinners, etc. I packed two pairs of denim (these and these) shorts that were easily worn every single day of our trip. Paired with open knit sweaters and breezy blouses. If you’ve been reading my site for awhile you know that I’m a huge fan of Joie. I wore this boho blouse over bikinis, paired with these shorts and a denim skirt and you can find similar options here, here, here and here. I also snagged this one for our trip and paired it with white flared jeans and wedges.

Now that the weather is warming up in Chicago I am finding new ways to incorporate these pieces into my wardrobe now. I’ve been living in cropped distressed denimopen knit sweaters and ballet flats – a look that is casual enough to play with Charlie all day but pulled together for when we are out and about. I’ve also traded my denim shorts for skirts and OTK boots – literally this dress is what I try to accomplish for those moments that are casual but you still want to feel dressier.

I’ve found a few more favorites for spring…
