Fall weekends away are my absolute favorite! We are really lucky that Chicago is a quick 3 hour drive to my family’s home in Wisconsin, and only a couple hours from the beautiful tree lined beaches of Michigan {where Dave is from!}. When the air gets cold and the leaves begin to change Dave and I love scheduling weekends in the woods. Close enough that it’s easy to get there and far enough to feel like you’re a million miles away. Our weekends are filled with mornings and nights by the fire, long movie days, walks through the woods with Webster, soup for dinner, pumpkins beers – it literally could not be more perfect.

My favorite thing about these weekends is that I get to pack all of the coziest items in my closet. I bring pieces that are no fuss but feel effortless enough to throw on and go {I don’t want to put any thought into my outfits while I’m away, just pure comfort}. Flannel shirts, big turtleneck sweaters, warm socks, thick leggings {the best!}, my favorite winter coat, my Frye boots, a big scarf – the list goes on and on.
