When I think about the formula for the perfect fall outfit it usually consists of denim, a cami, a cozy cardigan and booties. All of these items pull serious weight in my closet. Every year I usually invest in a few new basics for fall to get me through the long, cool months ahead. The perks of living in Chicago – a big fall wardrobe!

I recently found a few new pieces at Lord & Taylor that have quickly become some of my favorite items to wear together and separately. One reason that I invest in pieces like this season after season is because they can create so many different outfits but also act as my daily uniform.

Trust me when I say YOU NEED THESE BOOTIES. I can’t believe they are only $109 because they look and feel like a million bucks. I never want to take them off and know they will go with just about everything this season (the perfect color to pair with both brown and black). I wanted a cardigan that wasn’t super heavy and this one fits the bill. It is a terry material and has taken me from cozy in bed to daycare drop off to lunch meetings to airplanes for the past week. It’s a good staple to have in your rotation. The number one thing I invest in each year is a good pair of denim. They are hands down my most worn item all year round and well worth the price. I love this pair of Paige denim because the ankle length is perfect for boots, flats and sneakers. Finally, a lace cami will always be a star in my closet. On date nights I pair it with a leather jacket and during the day it dresses up my favorite casual outfits. The floral print is a fun extension from my usually black/white basics.
