It’s usually about this time of year where I dream of a new wardrobe for Spring. Less layers, pretty basics and pieces that I know will add a fresh vibe to my closet. I usually don’t give into trends too much. My lifestyle, environment and everyday routine doesn’t require me to get too dressed up. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate pieces that can complete an effortless and styled outfit.
I talked on my instagram stories yesterday about how shopping can sometimes be daunting. There are so many items that I wish I could purchase but 1. I don’t have a model figure (hello long legs!) 2. it is still winter in Chicago and 3. most days I look like a hot mess and these items just aren’t realistic with two messy boys. That being said, I wanted to share items that I feel are essential to a classic, feminine Spring wardrobe. Here are a few of my favorites…
A trench coat! This was on my must-buy list a few years ago after spending $75-$100 on a few that weren’t great quality – I knew it was time to invest in one that would last. I bought this Club Monaco trench which I love! The fit isn’t as structured as most and the fabric is super luxe. I love the tie sleeves, too! This style is a great price point and would complete any outfit. Another great style here.
A white blouse. I think white blouses hold the highest real estate in my closet. They are always appropriate and can be dressed up with a skirt/pants or down with jeans. A few that I’m loving this season:
A statement bag. One of the first things I notice about another woman’s outfit is her handbag. It’s one of my favorite investments but can definitely be a splurge. I have found a few bags under $500 that would make a beautiful addition to your wardrobe. This adorable little bow tote from one my favorite brands, a classic shoulder bag that looks designer, the cutest little box tote, a pretty quilted bag or this chic top handle bag under $75!
Cute sneakers. The fact that casual wear is pretty much socially acceptable for every occasion these days makes me very happy. Sneakers are pretty much my uniform and a must have for spring! I love that they look cute with everything! I especially love pairing them with dresses.
A few more essentials: a cute hat, a pair of jeans that makes you feel like a million bucks (also love these, these and these), a day-to-night dress, a cashmere sweater and striped tee.
Which items are you adding to your wardrobe this Spring??
