A Quickie Before Work

You see, Dave and I rarely ever have time for ourselves and as much as we would love to escape and grab dinner just the two of us on a random weekday night, we really don’t want to miss putting Charlie to sleep. Once he is down our couch always looks incredibly enticing and we would much rather lounge the rest of the night than get dressed up and go out. I had been trying to come up with a way where we could depend on time to catch up and sit and chat with each other during the week and we both decided that going out for breakfast or coffee before work is our best bet. My mom babysits on Tuesdays so every Tuesday we have a standing date before work where we get dressed/ready for the day and spend an hour at a different spot, catching up and enjoying ourselves.

I love this idea because not only do I get to have a date with my hubby but it isn’t at home where I am typically in sweats 90% of the time – I actually get to feel/look pretty which sadly seems to be a rare occurrence for Dave these days. Dave has a start-up business in the tech industry which means for the most part his work attire is pretty casual but on days when he has meetings he always dresses up and me likey when my husband puts on a shirt and tie. One of Dave’s favorite shirt brands is Ledbury because of their classic prints and amazing fit (he has this and this). He is also a huge fan of Nordstrom’s dress shirts, specifically this gingham style (the print is my personal favorite, too). Growing up my dad always had an impressive collection of ties and I think it has made me appreciate a good tie. I bought Dave a golf tie for his birthday this year and he gets so many compliments every time he wears it. I love that you have to look close enough to see the print which makes it subtle against a printed shirt. I am known to buy the men in my life a tie for Father’s Day because it is something that will always fit and they will have forever!

Since Dave and I both work in casual environments, we appreciate opportunities to dress up a bit. I love Dave’s dressy look, the shirt and tie looks sleek and sophisticated minus the blazer. I also have no problem saying no to a little white romper.
