Our winters are brutal but we make up for it with beautiful summers.

It always amazes how many people don’t realize that Chicago sits on Lake Michigan which means that our city is lined with beautiful beaches, lakefront paths and marinas. It is a situation that I definitely do not take for granted, there is something about being near the water that makes me feel calm. I can always count on a walk along the lake to take any stress away. This outfit from J.McLaughlin makes me so excited for weekends spent on the water – that blue and sea glass green is exactly what Lake Michigan looks like on a perfectly sunny summer day. The swingy shape of this dress (also love the blush color) is my go-to for spring/summer. It is slimming in that it stays with the shape of the body but the pleat in the back makes it airy and light. Paired with a panama hat and rattan clutch and this is the ultimate warm weather look. J.McLaughlin has so many beautiful pieces for spring/summer – including this, this, this and this being my favorites.

With the weather warming up a bit I am already assembling my list of things to do, here are a few of my favorites…

Walk along the lakefront path. The city just completely redid the park at Fullerton and the lake which is the perfect spot for afternoon picnics with my little family.

Rent a boat. The best way to see the prettiest views of our skyline.

Green City Market. My favorite outdoor farmers market in Lincoln Park opens May 7th!

Architectural Boat Tour. Learn about the city and get a glimpse of our gorgeous architecture. My favorites tours are the ones with a bar so you can grab a mimosa/bloody mary, too.

Check out our amazing museums – The Art Institute, Shedd Aquarium and The Field Museum are my favorite.

Enjoy a few of my favorite restaurants with outdoor seating:
Big Star
Parson’s Chicken + Fish
NoMI Terrace
Gemini Bistro
Little Goat
Homeslice
