Summer vacation in the Midwest means trips to Northern Michigan, weekends in Wisconsin, and days on the water savoring our warm temps! Because winter is brutal here, we save those extra warm/tropical vacations for the winter and generally like to spend our time outdoors enjoying he beautiful weather at home. Dave and I have already mapped out our summer weekends and only a few of them are actually in Chicago – the rest of them are spent road tripping to our favorite lakeside destinations.

Packing for these trips can be tough because the days are warm in the sun but the nights are cool by the bonfire. I’ve assembled a list of essentials perfect for a summer vacation! A few must haves: a pretty shirtdress for day or night, a bathing suit, coverup {that doubles as a dress}, distressed denim, big sunnies, embellished sandals, a cozy sweatshirt, a canvas jacket, sneakers, a travel makeup palette, and some coral lipstick to complete every look.
