Spring is sometimes a hard season to grasp as it is typically over in the blink of an eye. However, I’m well prepared to ditch my heavy winter layers for lighter looks and over the years I’ve mastered a few tips for layering spring pieces in cool temps. I’ve teamed up with Old Navy and Refinery 29 to share 4 looks that can easily transition from winter to spring and summer. Just because we don’t warm up as fast as other cities, doesn’t mean that I’m not ready to indulge in a new spring wardrobe! Thanks to Old Navy achieving these looks is super easy. Here are a few of my favorite tips for wearing your favorite spring items now…

If you haven’t ditched your winter neutrals yet, add a bright color or a print in your accessories to make your outfit pop!

Rather than reaching for your fall/winter coats, grab for a spring jacket layered over a light sweater for some extra warmth.

I’m always a fan of wearing white and I love reaching for a white denim jacket rather than a darker tone to brighten up a casual look. Pair it with some colorful sneakers to have a little fun with your look!

A maxi dress isn’t reserved for warm weather! I love wearing mine as a midi/maxi skirt, layered over a long sleeve tee and a slouchy sweater cinched with a belt. You could easily pair this look with short booties and a printed scarf, too!

Texture is key when it comes to layers and it’s important to keep in mind the difference between a bulky winter fabric and a more airy fabric for warmer temps. I love open weaved sweaters which can easily be layered over tee’s, a button down, or worn on their own with denim shorts once the heat rolls around! They are a must have for spring.

Don’t overthink it! Less is always more when it comes to layers so there is no need to overdo it. Think about what items you love in your closet and buy them in a linen, softer silhouette, or pretty pastel color to transition your favorite wardrobe essentials into a new season.
