Getting dressed up when it’s below freezing in Chicago can be a very difficult task. I’d much rather stay in my fuzzy socks, leggings and oversized sweater but with Valentine’s Day around the corner I’m realizing that I better up my game if I want to impress my husband. There’s a fine line between feeling comfortable {read: warm} and looking put together when you’re dressing up for a special occasion. Our date nights usually include a two block walk to our favorite restaurant or hailing a cab  to take us downtown which can usually be a battle against the cold, so imagine my excitement when I find items that do double duty as both comfortable and stylish!

Since I will be traveling this Valentine’s Day, Dave and I decided to celebrate early by making reservations at our favorite italian spot, Riccardo Trattoria, followed by a cozy movie night on our couch. The fabric on both my pants and top are like butter and are thick enough to combat the cold air outdoors while feeling like I never left my bed. Seriously these pants are a new favorite in my closet! I love how the tapered ankle gives these pants a dressier feel when paired with my favorite heels and I couldn’t help but add a pop of color in this drapey blue top. I added a statement necklace to finish the look and felt perfectly casual for a date night with my hubby.
