Miele Cm 6160 Coffee Machine + Carolina Irving Mug
Around the holidays I always get asked about our Miele coffee machine. We have had it for almost 8 years which is crazy. Dave bought it for me for Christmas and it has been the gift that keeps on giving ever since. If you are someone that really savors their morning cup of coffee then I highly recommend upgrading your situation for that perfect cup. I’ve been enjoying a frothy, smooth, creamy cup of coffee every morning since getting this machine so it is safe to say that the investment was worth every penny (especially when you think about how much you pay for a cup of coffee!). We have the Miele CM 6160 machine and it doesn’t everything so you can achieve that coffee shop drink at home. It is often hard to find on sale, especially as we get closer to the holidays but I found it 25% off here and here.
The machine itself is very efficient allowing you to make anything from a freshly brewed (it grounds whole beans for each individual drink) cup of coffee to lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, etc. We have been using these coffee beans from Fabula (100% organic, mold free and totally clean) and I really like them! The coffee itself is brewed so deliciously and comes out rich and creamy without any cream at all. Dave and I are very basic and most of the time just have a cup of coffee with a splash of cream but I love an afternoon latte in the fall.
The machine has some maintenance required which I know may be a pain point for some. We have been super consistent with this over the years and have only had one issue with our machine. Just a few months ago (7 years in!) a mechanism got jammed and we had to send it in for repairs but it was quick and easy! Miele sent it back good as new. Otherwise, you have to descale the machine every 150 cups of coffee with a quick cleaning tablet. The entire process takes 11 minutes for it to cycle through and it counts you down based on cups left so you know when to expect it! Then every 200 cups or so you have to clean the brew unit which requires a little washing of the machine inside and a 6 minute clean cycle. You’ll also get a warning for when this is coming up so you are not surprised. These always sort of line up by a couple days and then you don’t do it again for a few months or so. Easy!
My Favorite Cozy Coffee Drinks for Fall
Maple Cinnamon Latte. 1 tbsp maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon steamed with whole milk and poured over 2 espresso shots (sometimes 3, sometimes 4).
Dirty Chai Tea Latte. I like to steep a chai tea bag in steamed milk to let the milk get all coated in chai flavors! Pour over 2 espresso shots. The “dirty” part of a chai tea latte is adding the espresso.
Cinnamon Coffee. I love coffee with a kick of cinnamon so sometimes I’ll just brew a cup of coffee with a splash of half and half and let a cinnamon stick steep in there while I sip. An easy trick for a little flavor!
