Whether you have a morning commute to work, kids waking you up at the crack of dawn, early alarms for your workouts or you get to ease into your mornings—there are certain things I do to ensure that my day is going to be a good one! I love the qu0te, “Either run the day or the day runs you,” so most days I do my best to wake up with the mindset that it’s going to be a good day.
Five Tips for Starting Your Day in a Good Mood
- Do one productive thing right when you wake up! For me this usually means making the bed, starting a load of laundry, unloading the dishwasher or responding to emails. It helps me have a more productive mindset for the entire day and I end up accomplishing way more.
- Instead of turning on the TV or checking your phone, turn on some music. My Good Days playlist is one of our favorite ways to start the day! I find that if we have music playing vs. television my kids will play better together or entertain themselves while I can get our day started.
- Do something for yourself! If that means waking up an hour early for a workout or putting a show on for your kids so you can sit in the other room and drink a cup of coffee in peace. Walking the dog around the block with your cup of coffee (my favorite) or read a book in bed before you get the kids up! I find that having even just 10 minutes to do something just for myself is so important.
- Get some fresh air. For us, this usually means putting the kids in the stroller and walking them to daycare or taking Webster on a couple mile walk. I love leaving my phone at home and just focusing on being with my family and just enjoying the time outside.
- Ditch the phone. No one should require a response to you before 8am (hopefully) and checking social media can sometimes create unnecessary anxious pressures to be doing something you aren’t doing so instead of having something else dictate the start of your day, YOU DICTATE IT.
I also feel like getting up and showered and dressed for the day is a huge indicator for my mood! If I look good, I feel good. Sometimes that means an easy tee made a little more feminine with a cute midi skirt and fun headband! Sometimes I feel like my personal style takes on so many different characters depending on my mood. I love that this outfit feels effortless and fun without giving much thought to what I’m wearing. Walmart has so many fun pieces coming in for fall, making me so excited to mix different elements for the months ahead! You could style this midi skirt so many ways. I can’t wait to throw on a chunky sweater and loafers.
It’s a good day to have a good day! xoxo
A big thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post!
